No Vegetable Curry / Chana Dal Curry

Bachelor Curry

Chana Dal curry / no-vegetable curry is an age old dish of Andhra Pradesh made all over the state with little variations in every region.

Today we will be preparing a basic Chana dal curry, this is not any typical dal or some spicy wet curry, all you need is soaked Chana dal, onion, salt, chili powder and some tempering. With only few ingredients we are going to make the best side dish for rice, jeera rice and phulka. And not to mention this is one of my parent’s favorite curry.

We call this as no vegetable curry because all the ingredients required for this recipe are the most basic grocery items present in an Indian kitchen, there is no need to buy anything special for this recipe and onions are  a staple grocery in the kitchen and are stored in bulk all over the year, so the fact that it is a vegetable never strikes us 🙂 . So lets start preparing this no vegetable curry 😀
