Spinach Corn Rice with no salt, no garlic, no onion

Is it possible to eat delicious food without salt?

Yes it is 🙂 

Today we are going to learn a recipe which tastes yummy even without salt and is best for people who are on Vrat/fasting and also who don’t eat garlic, tomato and onion. It’s healthy, gluten free and Vegan too.

 You should definitely try low salt or no salt foods occasionally, it helps you keep check of blood pressure, cholesterol and gastrointestinal bloating.

I had first tried this recipe when my mother was fasting during the Telugu month of Karthika where on one particular day, devotees were not allowed to eat salt, chili, sour and sugar. My mother had this rice after completing her fast and she was happy with taste 🙂

Since there is no garlic or onion, you can offer this to God and have it as prasadam.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup(250ml) Cooked Rice
  • 75 g Spinach (including stems)
  • 1/4 Cup Frozen corn
  • 1 Tsp Jeera Powder
  • 2 Cloves Crushed
  • 1 Tbsp Oil

Instructions
 

  • Finely chop freshly cleaned spinach leaves along with stems, the stems play a major role in the texture and taste of the rice, so don't leave them out. And it is even better if there are more stems in your rice.
  • Place a pan on high flame add oil and let heat. Add spinach and stir fry for half a minute, add corn, jeera powder, cloves and cook for one minute.
  • Finally add rice and toss on high flame, switch off the flame once the rice and spinach is mixed well.
    Serve it hot with curd/raitha of your choice
